On the Road
After two months on the road half of the SFI team has returned to Florida.
Working student Ammanda Allain and myself (Ruthie) spent six weeks in Virginia
getting some much needed guidance with the horses from Jimmy Wofford.
Tinkatoo won his first outing of the season
and High Society (Trevor) was second.
I then went through the annual Jimmy Wofford Hell Week
and emerged somewhat unscathed but definitely stronger
and more balanced from the experience.
After several weeks of jump schools with Jimmy,
Dutch Twist (Oliver) won his first Preliminary outing
and Ammanda and Hoops won their division of Training.
We then hit the road competing at Tryon and Poplar on our way back down south.
I can happily say that all horses were in the top after dressage
(Trevor managed to win the dressage at both competitions
while Tinkatoo won it at Tryon and was third at Poplar)
and jumped clear at both competitions
with only time penalties keeping us from the win.
With all horses getting off to a great start of the season
we are now ready to step up our game.
Tinkatoo and Groover will be competing at Intermediate level next
and Oliver and Trevor will be looking to start cutting out the
time penalties at Preliminary.
Ammanda Allain did a great job of taking care of our horses
on the road while making some remarkable progress on her horse Hoops.
Kellie Benn took excellent care of the crew at home despite the Florida heat
and Meghan Shields will be returning from Canada to join the team
with her horse Gio in several weeks.
Horses
We have some exceptional new horses in for sale.
We have a lovely crew of reasonably priced prospects
as well as some super upper level horses in the sale barn.
Please check them out on the For Sale page and feel free to email Ruthie at
sfieventing@earthlink.net
for more info on any of them.
Fall brings us more horse trials
and possibly some three days for some of the horses.
We will keep you updated on our progress.
Tinkatoo News
Some exciting news from overseas as Tinkabella by Tinkatoo is placing
at Training and completed her first Preliminary at five years old!
I have told Tinkatoo he needs to step up his game quickly
or his daughter will soon be passing him up!
Hurricane Katrina ...
Our deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by Hurricane
Katrina.
SFI has donated some stallion breedings to auctions to raise
funds for the survivors of this tragedy
and remain committed to help in any way we can.
