What a fabulous season it has been so far for the SFI imports!!!
We can now say we have sold some of the top horses in the country
and there are plenty of others coming along through the ranks.
-
Outlawed -
sold to Jennifer Taxay in 2002 -
won the Foxhall CCI*** from beginning
to end with David O'Connor.
He had a fabulous season up to his first 3 star including wins at
advanced horse trials and a clean CIC***.
-
The next major event - Jersey Fresh CCI** - was won by
Sally Cousins and
The Mistress II.
The Mistress was imported from New Zealand in 2000 and sold to
Jesse Akers
(with whom she finished 2nd at Camino CCI** and 19th at Foxhall CCI***).
When Jesse went off to Graduate school The Mistress was then sold on to
Sally who also has had top placings at advanced before winning the spring
2 star this year.
Besides her huge win on The Mistress,
Sally has done very well on several other SFI New Zealand imports.
She had top placings at Intermediate on both
Coppertop and
Kintyre and
finished in the top 20 at Jersey Fresh CCI** on Kintyre.
-
Another horse and rider that have had top placings in 2004 so far are
Jumbeau II and
Alex Shaner,
who had top ribbons at Intermediate and Advanced Horse trials
before they successfully completed their first CCI*** at Foxhall.
-
Also competing at Foxhall was Robin Bass
and the wonderful French import Eliot III.
Robin had a great advanced season with Elliot before she went on to
have a great cross country round at their first CCI***.
-
Nicole Shinton has had an incredible year
on her string.
Wins or top ribbons on
Oakengrove Pamela,
Pick 'N Mix,
Clayton II, and
The Grey Pony
put Nicole on the Canadian Talent Squad.
Nicole also jumped fabulous clear cross country rounds on both Pamela
and The Grey Pony at Jersey Fresh CCI** and she made the Canadian Team
shortlist on Pamela.
-
Another New Zealand import -
Russian
- has been cleaning up at the competitions
in California with his new rider
Loreen Kay.
They have placed in all of their events so far,
including four Preliminary horse trials,
a CIC* and their first Intermediate horse trial and
are headed to NAYRC this summer.
-
Instant Appeal
(formerly Denovo) and
Mary Beth Hudson have had
top placings at Preliminary and a very successful CCI* in Virginia.
-
Midnight Masquerade has now won
two Trainings this spring with her new rider,
Leah Kramkowski,
and I am sure they will be moving up to Preliminary together soon.
-
Corelli
placed second at Training with trainer
Dean Graham
at his first time competing at that level.
-
No Secrets
moved up to Preliminary with top placings for her new owner
Madison.
-
O'Dea,
a green prospect purchased in Ireland by
Donna Miller,
has jumped around all of his training level events easily and
she is thrilled with him.
-
Jessica Leiden has had a great first
time season at training with
Summer Games
and is now headed to Mayfest for the Training 3 Day.
I am sure there are some others that I am missing.
It is hard to keep up with so many horses doing so well.
I look forward to hearing more news and getting updates from those
who have not even started their season yet!!
As far as news here at the farm ...
We have a whole new string of horses getting ready to compete.
My winter string of horses sold before the season even got underway
and the new ones are now just ready and there are no shows to go to
down here in the blazing hot south.
I am very excited about my young horse -
Kiwi Groove (Groover)
- who will be heading for a fall CCI*.
I have two Intermediate horses preparing for the fall season,
Buzz Lightyear (Buzzy) and
Danny Guiseppe (Danny).
My advanced mare,
Just Praising (Rowan),
has fully recovered from her shoulder injury and
will hopefully be ready for Radnor CCI** or Fair Hill CCI*** in the fall.
We also have several talented horses in for sale that will be out and
about until they find their new homes.
So now we are settling in for the long, hot summer with lots of
training to do and a few small shows if we can stand the heat.
If you are looking for a horse let us know as we certainly have a
barn full at the moment!
We hope everyone has a successful, cool summer!
