JAN-FEB NEWS

The year is off to a great start.  After Agnes Grey won her first US outing at Prelim she was sold to Nicole Shinton, who bought The Grey Pony from us last summer.  We have had a great time cheering for her at the shows and she already has a fabulous partner ship with both horses jumping around double clear on them in their first prelim outings together.  Congrats to Nicole, Lacy and Bo Pony!

Our other Irish horse Derravaragh Calvin jumped beautifully around the prelim at Canterbury before being sold to Jim Fitzgerald.  Jim is delighted with his new horse and they looked to be in excellent form together at their first show.
Summer Games (Gracie) proved her reliability by placing in big divisions at both Canterbury and Rocking Horse in the prelim.  She is a wonderful, honest and competitive mount that desperately needs a young rider or adult amateur to have fun on her.  I had so much fun competing such a lovely, easy horse!

Midnight Masquerade (Maya) has come along so quickly.  She jumped double clear around her first training in a year and then jumped very gamely around the tough prelim at Rocking Horse III.  She finished a very respectable 9th out of 24 starters at her first time at this level and should have no problem getting to a CCI* this spring.

The experienced horses have once again been extremely competitive.  Honest Tom followed his 3rd place at canterbury in the OP with a win in the IP there 2 weeks later.  He then went on to blaze around the OI at Rocking Horse finishing 8th with just one rail down at the end of the long one day event.  Bucaneer finished 2nd behind Tom in the IP and then jumped double clear at Rocking Horse to finish 5th in his OI division.  Both of these horses continue to have incredible records at the upper levels.  They are still reluctantly for sale and ready to go to Foxhall or win a CCI** this spring.
Our young prospect in for sale - Frosty North -was sold to a hunter rider who loves him and is preparing him for HITS.  We hope that Julianne will keep in touch with us about his progress on the A circuit.

The two SFI horses that are no longer for sale are Russian and Craighaven Tyrone.  With a very quick preparation Russian went well at his first AI start and despite a bobble in the water finished 9th.  He then put in an excellent dressage and fast and clean xcountry at Rocking Horse OI to be at the top going in to showjumping.  Unfortunately his lack of fitness caught up with him at the end of the day and he lowered 3 rails to still finish 7th in a division of 24 horses.  I was still proud of him for the strong effort on such short notice!

Craighaven Tyrone had a slow start of the season but managed to finally be able to run all 3 phases at Rocking Horse III.  He jumped as brilliantly as ever to be one of the few horses of the whole weekend to finish on his dressage score and ended up 3rd.  He just keeps getting better and better and I am grateful to have the ride on such a talented horse.
We still have some amazing horses for sale that have not been out competing yet.  Kintyre, Get A Life and The Chameleon are fit and ready to show.  Get A Life and The Chameleon were kind enough to take our working students, Laura and Emily, to their first event in Jan.  The girls rode the horses well and all of their hard work and training paid off with 3 solid phases and a 4th place finish for Emily and The Chameleon and a 7th place finish for Laura and Get a Life.  Both horses proved that not only can they win at prelim but they can safely and happily canter around the novice and have fun as well!
We also have some new horses in for sale.  We are excited to get 2 solid Intermediate eventers in Zacharoo and Felix.  Both horses are being legged up and are ready for riders wanting to win in the upper levels of eventing or compete in the high jumpers.

Hope to see you all at the events in March and April!

Good Luck to our horses sold and their new owners in the upcoming season!
